THE VALUE OF FAMILY
Kimberly’s Early Years
Throughout her childhood, Kimberly was surrounded by examples of service to her community and country. Kimberly was born on November 20, 1972 in Asheville, North Carolina. Her mother was a nurse at the local hospital and her father worked for the railroad.
In North Carolina, Kimberly’s love of nature and community was fostered and nurtured. She helped her grandparents on their farm and learned to cook, sew and strive for greatness from her mother, grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Kimberly’s brother, Ray, shared her interest in the outdoors and they were often found playing in the woods around their house, riding horses or 4-wheelers when they were young.
When Kimberly entered middle school, she began volunteering at the hospital as a junior volunteer, which continued through high-school as well. She earned awards for over a thousand hours of volunteer service. Kimberly graduated high school in the top of her class and moved to Florida to begin college.
A FAMILY AND A BUSINESS
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Kimberly had first hand experience with starting businesses and running them. Her father left the railroad and started a successful concrete company in Asheville, North Carolina.
In 1998, Kimberly married her husband Alan. Soon after they married, they moved to Germany where Alan served in the Army. During their tenure in the military, they grew their family to five while also traveling to numerous countries in Europe.
After graduating college, Kimberly took various jobs as a web designer / web developer. She was later hired at the Florida Times-Union and worked her way into management. Kimberly was the Online Production Manager for Jacksonville.com for several years before leaving to run her own company, Silver Web Designs, full time.
ENTRY INTO POLITICS
Kimberly grew up with an interest in politics as the topic was frequently part of meal-time discussions and family events. In the last year, Kimberly has become a rising star in the Republican Party. She has become active in a number of political groups and has worked hard to promote liberty, limited Constitutional government, free markets, lower taxes, and individual liberties.
KIMBERLY’S RECENT BATTLES FOR DUVAL COUNTY CITIZENS
Within the last year, Kimberly has fought to lower taxes by joining the fight for the Taxpayer Protection Amendment. (See article from the Palm Beach Post.)
Most recently, Kimberly joined Americans for Prosperity to protest the recommended property tax increase proposed by the Jacksonville Journey. After several town hall meetings, at which Kimberly and others spoke against raising property taxes, Mayor Peyton agreed not to raise property taxes! This was a tremendous win for the property owners of Duval County!
